Dads with daughters in tow flocked to the Inaugural Father Daughter Fashion Show at the Waldorf Astoria in Naples on Saturday June 21st. More than 45 families were in attendance, with daughters as young as five months and as old as sixteen years old, including Chad Oliver of NBC 2 and his daughter Allie who walked the runway and facilitated as the MC for the event. The Waldorf Astoria of Naples was the venue for the event, providing brunch for attendees which included an omelet bar and other delicious foods.
Joseph Wendt Custom Clothiers helped the men shine, from shorts to top hats to MC Chad Oliver’s green pants. Complementing the men, the daughters wore outfits provided by Little Luxe, a locally-owned children’s boutique located on Fifth Avenue South and Waterside Shops. The runway show included three themes for attire: Fun in the Sun, Playtime, and Night Out. Fathers and daughters alike enjoyed strutting down center stage for family and friends. Daughters enjoyed getting dressed up and having their hair and make-up done, while dads delighted in getting to spend a day on the runway with them. Family and friends looked on and snapped photos while dads and daughters posed. Joseph Wendt, whose company provided the men’s attire, and his daughter participated. “It was a great collaboration with Little Luxe and a chance for our customers to cross paths,” Wendt stated.
Following the runway show was a silent auction with a variety of select packages to bid on, with proceeds going to the Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples. Exclusive auction items were offered. Guests could bid on items such as renting out Brooks Gourmet Burgers and Dogs entire restaurant for a night and botox treatments from The Laser Lounge Spa. While parents bid, children were able to enjoy face painting, a balloon artist, and a fascinating dry ice bubble station provided by the Children’s Museum of Naples.
Nannette Staropoli, President of Markit Group says, “For a first event, this was a huge success. I’m looking forward to growing this even with more fathers and daughters in future years.”
The event was produced by Markit Group and Naples Performing Arts Center, as well as luxury retailers, and local businesses. Sponsors like law firm Woodward, Pires, and Lombardo, Just Like Family Home Care, the Laser Lounge Spa, and Brooks Gourmet Burgers & Dogs helped make it all possible, providing funds and silent auction items.
