Google Reader is set to power down on July 1st, along with a number of other Google tools, leaving millions of users searching for another place to organize and view their RSS feeds. A vast number of feed reader solutions are available, and Feedly is one of the most popular options – both on its own and as an alternative to Google Reader.
Previously connected with Google Reader, Feedly is now detaching itself to become fully autonomous, powered by its own backend service. Feedly has reassured users transferring their feeds from Google Reader that their information will be safe after the July 1st shutdown.
Feedly is accessible from a traditional computer and also from a series of mobile devices, including smartphones. Their services will also be available to other RSS apps, including Reeder and Newsify, who are slated to begin offering access to Feedly from their own sites soon.
Feedly is a free download – you can try it here.
