Porsche’s Social Media Strategy Has Captured 1 Million Fans

Porsche Reaches 1 Million Facebook Fans

As Porsche reported its November sales figures, the automaker also announced it surpassed a new threshold of fans on its official Facebook page. Porsche says it now has more than 1 million Facebook fans worldwide.
Company officials mentioned they have special plans for their 1 million devotees on Facebook. As part of a continued celebration, fans can sign-up via Facebook to have their name inscribed on a special Porsche model. This vehicle is set to be displayed as part of a unique exhibit at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany, beginning in February. Porsche Facebook fans have until Dec. 31 to become part of this experience.
Porsche reiterated that its Facebook fan page holds many features for its members. Fans can view original images, streaming video and read and discuss the latest news on Porsche products, motorsports victories and events on the site’s wall.
Additionally, officials mentioned several Facebook tabs point to other interactive social media Porsche has produced. One such tab links to the Porsche Family Tree website where visitors can post their own history with the Porsche brand on an intricate “family tree” created to denote the lineage between Porsche owners and fans and their beloved cars.
Currently there are more than 3,500 unique Porsche stories on the Family Tree site, according to the company.
“Although we are witness to passionate customers and fans every day, it is neat to set another Porsche milestone by growing to over 1,000,000 strong on Facebook,” declared Josh Cherfoli, online relationship and marketing manager for Porsche Cars North America.
“It’s an excellent opportunity to help us connect with our fan base, and we thank them all for sharing our passion,” Cherfoli added.
November Sales Performance
In other company news, Porsche revealed that it posted a 49-percent sales gain in November. The automaker sold 2,416 units in the U.S. compared to 1,626 units in the same month last year.
The automaker stated November’s results represent the sixth consecutive month that it has recorded double- or triple-digit monthly sales increases over 2009 in the U.S. So far this year, Porsche’s 2010 sales total 22,753 vehicles. The amount represents an increase of 29 percent from 17,578 vehicles.
